A hydraulic hand pallet truck (also known as a pump truck or pallet jack) is a wheeled trolley used to transport and lift pallets. Using a pallet truck to move loads puts less strain on the operator lifting or moving the loads.
The hand pallet truck has simple up/neutral/down operations. To lift up the forks, pull down the lever and keep pushing the handle up and down until the pallet has reached the required height. A clearance of one inch between the ground and pallet is usually enough to move the load. To move a load, engage the lever in a neutral or middle position.
To move a load using a pallet truck, the first place that load on a pallet and secure it using suitable straps or bundling.
Once the load has been secured, you can move the pallet truck to its destination, gliding the forks into the gaps provided for movement. The truck's pump-action handle is used to raise the pallet off the ground.
1. Only trained pallet jack operators should operate hand pallet trucks.
2. Never exceed the manufacturer's load-rated capacity.
3. Hydraulic hand pallet trucks do not have brakes. Operators should move at a slower speed to avoid accidents.
4. Never walk backward with the hand pallet truck, unless going upstairs or climbing ramps.
5. Do not keep your feet under the pallet jack.
Pallet trucks are commonly used in warehouses and stockrooms.
